Track email delivery
See whether mail your hosting sent was delivered, delayed, or rejected, so you know where a message went.
When you are not sure a message reached its recipient, Track Delivery shows what happened to each message your hosting account sent. Open cPanel from your client area (see Log in to cPanel if you need directions), then follow the steps below.
Run a delivery report
-
In cPanel, find the Email section and select Track Delivery.
You can also type "Track Delivery" into the cPanel search box.
-
To look for a particular message, enter the address it was sent to in Recipient Email.
Leave it empty to see the most recent messages across the account.
-
Select Run Report.
-
Read the Result column and the Event icon on each row to see what happened to the message.
-
For the full path a message took, select the information icon in the Actions column on its row.
What the results mean
Each row carries a result you can read at a glance:
- Success: the message was delivered.
- Deferred: delivery has not happened yet and the server is still trying, usually because the receiving mail service asked it to wait.
- Rejected or Error: the receiving side refused the message. The Result text often quotes the reason it gave.
- Filtered: the message was accepted but sorted away from the inbox, for example into a spam folder.
The Spam Score column shows how spam-like each message looked on the way out, which is worth a glance if your mail keeps landing in recipients' spam folders.
To narrow a long report, use Show Blocked & Failed to see only the messages that did not get through, or Show All to return to the full list.
