Change your email password in webmail
Set a new password for your mailbox from the Password & Security area of webmail, without needing cPanel.
Log in to webmail for the address you want to change (see Access your email with webmail if you need directions), then follow the steps below.
Change your password
-
Find the Edit Your Settings section and open Password & Security.
-
Enter your new password in New Password, then again in Confirm New Password.
A strength meter fills in as you type. Make the password at least 15 characters, and one you do not use on any other service.
-
Select Save.
The new password applies immediately, so use it the next time you log in.
Use the password generator
If you would rather have a password made for you, Password & Security includes a Password Generator button. Select it and a suggested password appears. Select Generate Password again until you get one you are happy with. Under Advanced Options, set the Length to at least 15, and choose whether the password uses letters and numbers only or symbols as well.
Copy the password into a password manager or your browser's saved passwords, tick I have copied this password in a safe place, then select Use Password.
Update your mail apps
Phones, tablets, and desktop mail apps store the old password, and each one stops collecting mail until you enter the new one. Update them as soon as you have set the new password. See Set up email on desktop and mobile for where those settings live.
